My sister visited me all the way from the land of Seattle. If that doesn’t warrant and excuse to buy an expensive burger at The Banshee, I don’t know what does. We actually split it, so it was around $7 each. It is a huge burger; I would not have finished it by myself.
I am still not over the Impossible Burger. It tastes, looks, and feels like meat and I am suspicious. At first, I wanted to double check with the bartender and make sure I had the right order. It’s just my luck that my order gets switched with someone’s actual burger. It is an experience that every long term vegetarian needs to have. I haven’t had meat in so long and I was amazed. I mean, the middle is pink! Apparently, this is thanks to beet juice. My sister is a meat eater and she was even sold on it. Us vegetarians catch a lot of flak for our meat substitutes. Some of them are just gross. The Impossible Burger is different. It passes the test with a lot of people who eat meat regularly.

The “meat” used in the impossible burger is not actually made at The Banshee. It is made and distributed by a company called Impossible Foods. I hear you can get an Impossible Burger at Carls Jr. now. I doubt it will taste as good as at The Banshee though. One flaw here is the fries. They are kind of sad and mostly made up of the potato ends. You can’t really dip them in ketchup and just end up scooping up in your fingers.
There are a lot of unique drinks here. The term “artisanal” comes to mind. I got a blueberry basil mojito. I am not sure if I tasted any basil or mint but I have that problem everywhere I go. It’s like there’s a mint shortage in Chico bars. Riley’s doesn’t even try. It was still among the top cocktails I’ve tried in this town and I would get it again when I am feeling rich.

I hope I start making more money soon so I can come here more often. This has probably been the best thing I have eaten in Chico. It just loses points because of the price. It truly is worth it though. There is a science behind the Impossible Burger that deserves proper recognition. I am already planning my next visit because I have to try it again.
