Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read my first blog post. I am Eva, a junior at California State University, Chico. I am studying Nutrition and Food Science in the option of Food and Nutrition Communication. My area of study within that is Media and Writing. That is a lot to unpack I know, but I can break it down. In the study of Nutrition and Food Science, I learn a lot about food, down to a molecular level, and how it plays a role in the human body. The other part of what I am studying is how to use that information and communicate it to others in a more accessible way. After all, not everyone cares to learn about nutrition through an organic chemistry perspective. I have chosen this path solely on my love for food, knowing how it can bring people together and provide them joy. I love cooking, watching cooking shows, and even just helping my friends and family cook. Sometimes however, I like to eat great food without doing any of the work.
In this venture, I will be trying out different restaurants here in Chico. I am a vegetarian and while it is by no means the most restrictive diet, I still have be weary of where I eat. If not, I am stuck ordering french fries off of the side menu. There are a lot of vegetarian options around here so I know I will have no problem finding something delicious to eat. For an added challenge, I will keep myself on a budget. Vegetarian food in a college town can be expensive as you all may know. As a money conscious person, I am always looking to stretch my dollar. I have a lot of restaurants in mind which I am excited to try now that I have an excuse to go out to eat. Instead of limiting myself to restaurants only, I will also explore my options on campus. We all have been in the situation where we are in dire need of food and cannot decide where to go on campus that won’t cost a fortune. Hopefully, I can offer some great recommendations or inspire other people to try more restaurants around them. In between now and my next post, I will have done a lot of homework but more importantly eaten somewhere so I can share the experience. Check back to see where I eat first.
